Very reasonably priced considering all you get, and I can't stress enough how much fun we had!! Just remember to dress for riding in a bumper boat (you WILL get wet, and I'd advise not to wear a short skirt or dress as everyone will get a view lol). They offer mini golf, but we didn't do that, nor did we play any arcade games or lazer tag, but they offer a unique selection of games and toys to win also. We all enjoyed the rides, which include a kiddie roller coaster, bumper boats w/ squirt guns, go carts, carnival-style swing for smaller kids, a kiddie train, and the kiddie teacup ride. Plenty of room to sit at and get stuffed on their pizza and salad and drinks before heading outside to do the rides (it was raining, so it was shut down outside til it dried up, which only took 1/2 hour). Also purchased the tall souvenir bottle for $8. This place was AAAAAmazing!!! We stopped in yesterday for their Thursday special, for family play-passes for $16/person, and the pizza/salad/drinks buffet for $8/person. Insulting at times and would run into me while I was watching the kids try and play. All other staff, were horrible and very RUDE. Only employee that was nice was the kid who helped my son and his friends pick out their prizes with the tickets. Staff opened the batting cages and other events for there personal family and friends and I could see them over-riding the kiosk machines so they didn't have to pay. The manager was horrible and closed the outside activities which we went there for. We drove over 2 hours to get there, so we tried to make the best of it. Young staff member tried to go in and fix, but not successful. First experience was my son's friend walked out of the bathroom saying the toilets were over-flowing. Bathrooms/toilets over-running, place smelled like urine today and all outdoor activities not running for today and time we went before. Dirty, Poorly Run, Rude staff on ALMOST EVERY LEVEL. The board and most of the pieces were constructed out of felt so they stick to each other, meaning you can play on non-flat surfaces, don't have to worry about bumping the board, and you can pause, move, and resume your game. As such, I attempted to make as many pieces multi-use as possible, and also as small and lightweight as possible without sacrificing playability. Hello everybody! As the title suggests, I built a Catan/Chess/Checkers/Backgammon/Cards combo for the specific purpose of backpacking.
A sufficient number of abstracts only became available from 1956. Three-character acronyms (blue lines) are more common than two-character acronyms (brown-orange lines) and four-character acronyms (olive green lines) in both titles and abstracts. The proportion of acronyms (purple line) has risen steadily over time in abstracts both for acronyms that are letters and/or numbers (top left) or just letters (top right). Acronyms are generally less common in titles than abstracts, and the proportion in titles has been relatively stable since 2000, but there was an increase from 1960 to 2000 (bottom left and right). We examined acronyms because they can be objectively identified and reflect changes in specialisation and clarity in writing. In this article we report trends in the use of acronyms in the scientific literature from 1950 to the present. "RUN had significantly (p<0.05) greater size-adjusted CSMI and BSI than C, SWIM, and CYC and higher size, age, and YST-adjusted CSMI and BSI than SWIM and CYC." (2002) ‘After their co-culture with HC-MVECs, SSc BM-MSCs underwent to a phenotypic modulation which re-programs these cells toward a pro-angiogenic behaviour.’ (2013) "Toward this goal, the CNNT, the CRN, and the CNSW will each propose programs to the NKF for improving the knowledge and skills of the professionals within these councils.’ (2000) "Applying PROBAST showed that ADO, B-AE-D, B-AE-D-C, extended ADO, updated ADO, updated BODE, and a model developed by Bertens et al were derived in studies assessed as being at low risk of bias.’ (2019) The four sentences below are taken from abstracts published since 2000, and reflect the increasing complexity and specialisation of science. Box 1.Įxamples of sentences with multiple acronyms. Box 1 contains four sentences from published papers that show how acronyms can hinder understanding. For example, the acronym UA has 18 different meanings in medicine ( Lang, 2019). One feature that can make scientific papers difficult to read is the widespread use of acronyms ( Sword, 2012 Pinker, 2015 Hales et al., 2017 Lowe, 2019), and many researchers have given examples of the overuse of acronyms, and highlighted the ambiguities, misunderstandings and inefficiencies they cause ( Fred and Cheng, 2003 Narod et al., 2016 Patel and Rashid, 2009 Pottegård et al., 2014 Weale et al., 2018 Parvaiz et al., 2006 Chang et al., 2002). Writing scientific papers that are clearer to read could help to close this gap and increase the usefulness of scientific research ( Freeling et al., 2019 Letchford et al., 2015 Heard, 2014 Glasziou et al., 2014). This information overload is driving a ‘knowledge-ignorance paradox’ whereby information increases but knowledge that can be put to good use does not ( Jeschke et al., 2019). As the number of scientific papers published every year continues to grow, individual papers are also becoming increasingly specialised and complex ( Delanty, 1998 Bornmann and Mutz, 2015 Doubleday and Connell, 2017 Cordero et al., 2016 Plavén-Sigray et al., 2017). The resulting 14.8-cent four-color page is a little cheaper than average. In the standard size, black costs $12 and lasts for 250 pages (4.8 cents per page), while the standard cyan, magenta, and yellow color cartridges are $10 each and last for 300 pages, or 3.3 cents per page. Costs are actually fairly low for an MFP in this price range if you use the large-capacity supplies. The Photosmart 5520 uses a four-cartridge ink system (HP’s 564 line). Like its predecessor, the Photosmart 5520 supports push scanning (that is, scanning to a PC using the printer’s control panel) and printing via email using HP’s ePrint. Although the Photosmart 5520’s printer driver is a relatively simple affair, it does offer layout options for booklets and multiple pages–amenities lacking in the Photosmart 5510. It would expose the Jets in a way they would probably prefer not to be exposed right now.īut it could also challenge us to think differently. Appearing on Hard Knocks would test all of this progress in real time. It is more carefully curated (another subject we wrote about here). Indeed, what is happening now is so different from the franchise’s lost years. I think anyone who has been around the Jets for long enough could separate the team into different eras, following the dramatic end of the Ryan era and the beginning of the Saleh-Joe Douglas regime. What better way to do it than by jamming the new normal down our throats? Both of them are intimately familiar with that perception and are eager to change reality. We have written about this process somewhat exhaustively, from both the mouth of Saleh himself and the mouth of Sauce Gardner, one of the biggest stars the team has possessed in decades. While different from Ryan in almost every way, Saleh’s aim has been remarkably similar: to separate the Jets from our entrenched ideas of what it means to be The Jets. Saleh and the Jets could paint themselves a similar picture. While Hard Knocks had nothing to do with this, Ryan’s willingness to remain himself in the face of incomprehensible attention and hype created a pillar for these events to take place. That year, the Jets stunned the Patriots in the AFC divisional round with one of the greatest defensive game plans in postseason football history. Ryan gave everyone permission to deny New England its ceremonial deference. The idea that someone else besides Bill Belichick could be smug and cocky-and, yes, optimistic even-had been completely sucked out of the thought catalog for every team in that conference. Say what you will about Ryan, but he relished moments in front of the Hard Knocks cameras because it helped him instill his intended message: The Jets were not afraid of anyone anymore, that they were not to be slapped around and that their coach was not afraid of the dynasty percolating atop his division. The last time the Jets were featured on ‘Hard Knocks’ was 2010.Ĭhris Pedota//USA TODAY Network But there is a privilege and opportunity in such pressure, which they no doubt realize. To be clear, I’m guessing that Robert Saleh and the rest of the folks actually in charge of the on-field product would rather practice atop a live volcano than have cameras following them around all preseason. The internal chemistry devolves into something nuclear to the touch.īut what if the franchise can actually use the series to its advantage, improving on a blueprint Ryan crafted the last time the team was on HBO for a summer? Aaron Rodgers flashes some passive aggression that is cited repeatedly. The money is blown within weeks, and human nature returns the Jets to their unenviable place at the end of our punchlines. They are stepping onto an olympic racetrack after years of running Turkey Trots.Īnd, sure, our imagination naturally crafts the framework of the classic lottery winner’s story. The butt of your collective jokes now possesses a Hall of Fame quarterback, and, simultaneously, the offensive and defensive rookies of the year. But like a lottery winner, their fortunes have once again changed dramatically and quickly. The Jets transitioned from a two-year window of relevance and respectability under Rex Ryan into a cavern of disappointment, indifference and embarrassment. Yes, from the outside, there is some validity to the idea that Hard Knocks would represent another massive weight for the New York franchise to bear. (A spokesperson for HBO declined to address the news when reached by email.) I’ll give you a minute to continue thinking what you are likely thinking (that this is a harbinger for some kind of disastrous, spectacular explosion of LOLJets content preceding a season of theatrical disappointment) before telling you that you might be wrong. The Jets have reportedly been chosen as the next franchise to appear on Hard Knocks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
